Zamfara APC E-Registration: What Aminu Jaji Said About Matawalle, Yari
The ongoing Zamfara APC E-Registration crisis has pushed the state’s ruling party into a tense internal showdown, with sharp accusations flying among its top figures. Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, a serving member of the House of Representatives and leader of the Jajiya Political Movement, has openly questioned the credibility of the registration exercise, warning that it is being manipulated to exclude key stakeholders. Addressing journalists during a press briefing in Gusau on January 7, 2026, Jaji accused the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, of allegedly taking control of the digital registration process to weaken rival blocs within the party.
According to Jaji, the controversy stems from what he described as a deliberate sidelining of the State Organising Secretary, Bashir Ahmad Gusau, who by party rules should play a central role in coordinating the registration. He alleged that Matawalle and Yari, working in collaboration with the APC National Organising Secretary in Abuja, bypassed established party structures by appointing their own coordinators to supervise the Zamfara APC E-Registration exercise. Jaji warned that this approach violates internal agreements and unfairly marginalizes a significant faction of the party, which he estimates accounts for nearly 40 percent of its support base in the state.
The Jajiya Political Movement has since escalated the matter by submitting a formal petition to the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, calling for an urgent and independent investigation. Speaking on behalf of the group, its chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Ajiya Anka, cautioned that the party appears to be repeating mistakes from the past. He recalled that similar internal divisions and unilateral decisions in 2019 ultimately cost the APC all elective positions in Zamfara State. The group expressed concern that concentrating control of the digital registration portal in the hands of a few individuals could result in a distorted membership register that does not reflect the party’s real grassroots strength across the state’s 147 wards.

Jaji further argued that the situation mirrors tactics used during previous administrations to edge out opposing voices within the party. He appealed directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Chairman to step in and restore balance before internal infighting causes long-term damage. As the Zamfara APC E-Registration exercise continues throughout January, the Jajiya group insists that only a transparent, inclusive, and fair process can protect the party from legal challenges and political setbacks ahead of the 2027 general elections.
