Nancy Guthrie missing update, Gloves Found on Day 12
The Nancy Guthrie missing update has taken a significant turn as investigators enter the twelfth day of the search for the Savannah mother of two, following the discovery of a potentially critical piece of evidence.
During a coordinated search operation along a rural stretch on the outskirts of Savannah, authorities recovered a pair of gloves discarded near a drainage ditch. While officials have not confirmed whether the gloves belong to 34 year old Nancy Guthrie, the item has been sent for expedited DNA testing. The discovery has injected renewed urgency and cautious optimism into a case that has gripped communities across the Georgia coast since Guthrie disappeared on February 1, 2026.
The Savannah Police Department, working closely with the FBI and the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, has now concentrated its efforts within a five mile radius of where the gloves were found, signaling a more targeted phase of the investigation.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen leaving her job at a medical clinic in midtown Savannah at approximately 5:15 PM. Surveillance footage later captured her silver 2021 Honda CR V heading east toward her residence. She never made it home.
Two days after she was reported missing, her SUV was discovered abandoned along a logging road in a heavily wooded area. Investigators reported no immediate signs of a violent struggle inside the vehicle. However, her purse and mobile phone were missing, raising immediate concerns.
Digital forensic analysis revealed that Guthrie’s phone last connected to a cell tower near the Ogeechee River shortly after 6:00 PM on the night she vanished. After that signal, the device either powered off or was deliberately disabled.
The glove discovery occurred on Thursday morning, February 12, when K 9 units alerted search teams to the items along a roadside. Officials noted that the recent stretch of dry weather may have helped preserve potential biological evidence on the fabric, increasing the likelihood of obtaining viable forensic results.
Meanwhile, family members and volunteers continue daily searches across Savannah and surrounding communities. Thousands of flyers have been distributed throughout the metropolitan area. In an emotional appeal, Nancy’s husband, Michael Guthrie, urged anyone who traveled along Highway 17 on the evening of February 1 to review dashcam footage that could offer valuable clues.
Authorities have remained guarded about suspect information but confirmed they are re interviewing individuals of interest from Guthrie’s social and professional circles. Investigators say the absence of forced entry into her vehicle and the specific location where it was found suggest the possibility that she may have known the individual responsible or may have been lured under false pretenses.
At present, the investigation remains in a holding phase as law enforcement awaits forensic results from the gloves. Specialists are also conducting detailed examinations of the Honda CR V for touch DNA and microscopic soil traces that could indicate where the vehicle traveled before it was abandoned.
“We are pursuing every lead with the highest level of urgency,” a Savannah Police Department spokesperson told Songbux. “This discovery represents an important development, but we are committed to handling the evidence methodically to protect the integrity of the case.”
What began as a missing persons search has now transitioned into a forensic intensive investigation. As day twelve concludes, attention is firmly fixed on the laboratory results that could potentially provide the breakthrough investigators and the Guthrie family desperately need.
