Home Bound: Fetty Wap Released from Prison Early After 50 Cent Support

In a significant development for the hip-hop community, Fetty Wap Released from Prison Early on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, marking the end of his time behind bars at the Federal Correctional Institution, Sandstone, in Minnesota. The “Trap Queen” rapper, born Willie Junior Maxwell II, has been transferred to a community confinement facility in New Jersey overseen by the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Philadelphia office.

Originally sentenced to six years in May 2023 for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking conspiracy, the 34-year-old artist served just over half of his term. His release to home confinement allows him to complete the final months of his sentence in a residential setting before his formal supervision begins on November 8, 2026.

The rapper’s return has been bolstered by a surprising pillar of strength in the industry, 50 Cent. During his first post-release interview with The Breakfast Club on Friday, January 9, Fetty Wap revealed that the G-Unit mogul provided significant “financial and mental help” throughout his incarceration. Fetty detailed how 50 Cent reached out from day one, offering unfiltered guidance and ensuring the rapper’s family was taken care of.

50’s advice was reportedly blunt, urging Fetty to “stop f***ing up” and refocus on his musical talent. This support system, combined with collaborations from artists like Coi Leray, helped maintain Fetty’s presence in the industry even while he was away.

While now at home, Fetty Wap faces a rigorous five-year period of post-release supervision that includes strict federal mandates. According to court documents, he must submit to regular drug testing, report all earnings to the U.S. Probation Department, and obtain express permission before opening new bank accounts.

Furthermore, he is prohibited from possessing any controlled substances, including alcohol, unless prescribed by a physician. Despite these constraints, the rapper remains in high spirits, with his publicist, Abesi Manyando, describing him as “grounded” and deeply focused on his role as a father and his commitment to community service.

Looking ahead, Fetty Wap has pledged to pivot his focus toward philanthropy through his foundation, which aims to provide vision care and tech education for at-risk youth. In an official statement, he expressed immense gratitude to his fans, stating that their prayers were his lifeline during the three years he spent in custody.

With his release date from total oversight projected for late 2026, the music world is now watching to see how one of the mid-2010s’ biggest stars will navigate his redemption arc. For now, the “King Zoo” leader is prioritizing time with his children and slowly returning to the studio, a process he admits has been humbling after years of silence.
