BREAKING: JAMB UTME 2026 registration deadline Disclosed
JAMB UTME 2026 registration deadline has officially entered its final phase, as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board announces a strict 17 day cutoff for all prospective candidates nationwide.
In a formal statement released from its headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, the examination body confirmed that there will be no extension for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry registration exercise. The directive affects millions of candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education for the 2026 academic session.
Speaking on the development, JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, explained that maintaining a firm timetable is critical for the seamless coordination of examination logistics across the country. According to him, any candidate who fails to complete biometric capture and profile creation before the deadline will forfeit participation in the 2026 admission cycle.
Candidates have been urged to use the remaining days wisely to finalize their registration. The board has streamlined the process, making the National Identification Number mandatory for all applicants.
For profile creation, candidates must send their NIN via SMS to 55019 or 66019 to generate a unique profile code. Registration PINs can be purchased through approved commercial banks, mobile money operators, and microfinance institutions nationwide.
JAMB has again warned against the use of cyber cafes or unauthorized centres. All registrations must be completed at officially accredited Computer Based Test centres to avoid technical errors, fraud, or disqualification.
Direct Entry applicants face additional scrutiny this year. The board has strengthened verification measures for A level results in an effort to eliminate certificate forgery. Candidates must provide accurate institutional details, as credentials are now verified directly with issuing institutions before confirmation.
While participation in the mock examination remains optional, JAMB strongly encourages candidates to take advantage of it. The mock exercise is designed to help students familiarize themselves with the Computer Based Test environment and resolve potential technical issues before the main examination.
To ensure compliance and transparency, JAMB has deployed technical monitors across all 36 states. Its ticketing system remains operational, allowing candidates to report payment issues or biometric challenges. The board maintains a zero tolerance stance on examination malpractice, emphasizing that biometric verification will be conducted at every stage of the process, from registration to entry into the examination hall.
A spokesperson for the board reiterated that the 17 day deadline is final and non negotiable. The portal will close automatically at midnight on the last day, with no grace period.
As the UTME 2026 registration deadline approaches, candidates, parents, and CBT operators are under mounting pressure to complete all pending applications. JAMB insists it has provided sufficient time since the portal opened and expects serious applicants to comply without delay.
