House On The Rock: Adefarasin Calls for National Unity as The Experience Marks 20 Years

Adefarasin Calls for National Unity as The Experience Marks 20 Years

Ahead of the landmark 20th edition of The Experience gospel concert, the convener, Senior Pastor Paul Adefarasin of the House on the Rock church, has issued a powerful and timely plea for national unity, defining it as both a divine mandate and the singular pathway to unlocking Nigeria’s vast potential. Speaking at a pre-event briefing, Adefarasin utilized the massive annual concert as a tangible metaphor for the nation’s healing, urging citizens to embrace cohesion amid a tense national atmosphere.

Unity as a Divine Mandate, Not Uniformity

Pastor Adefarasin stressed that the call for unity is critical in light of the current socio-economic challenges, implicitly referencing complexities and “complicity in places where complicity should never be.” He clarified that true unity is not synonymous with uniformity but is a deliberate and conscious choice to build something greater than the sum of its diverse parts.

“True unity begins in the heart, extends to families and communities, and ultimately strengthens the nation through shared values and collective responsibility,” he stated, emphasizing that the profound connection needed is found in shared purpose and mutual responsibility.

He described The Experience, which draws hundreds of thousands of people who “do not look alike or think alike” but “move to the same beat and rhythm,” as a “living demonstration” of what unity looks like in real time, a rhythm he identifies as hope and possibility.

Charitable Action for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)

Directly linking the mission of the gospel ministry to the nation’s humanitarian crisis, Adefarasin announced a significant charitable initiative. He confirmed that all proceeds that would normally accrue to the artists from a new song, which will be premiered at the concert, and a later full album, will be donated entirely to support Nigeria’s Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). This act directly addresses the plight of the estimated 4 to 10 million Nigerians currently displaced, illustrating a commitment to social responsibility alongside spiritual ministry.

A Testament to Nigerian Resilience

Celebrating the concert’s two-decade milestone, Adefarasin hailed the event as a testament to Nigerian excellence. He commended the thousands of young Nigerian professionals—including the technical crews, safety teams, artists, and volunteers—who consistently deliver a world-class production.

He drew a powerful parallel between the 20th anniversary of The Experience and Nigeria marking 30 years of democratic governance, noting that the longevity of the concert “demonstrates the resilience of God’s grace and of a nation that, despite its many challenges, continues to unite, celebrate, and rise together.” The call for national unity is therefore presented not just as a prayer, but as the proven operational blueprint for Nigeria’s future success.
